Vietnam to welcome AFF Cup in October

Vietnam will welcome the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Cup in October ahead of the event that will take place from November 8 to December 15.

Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam will welcome the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF)Cup in October ahead of the event that will take place from November 8 toDecember 15.

Thecup will be paraded in Cambodia first and then travel to Bangkok, Hanoi,Jakarta, Manila and Yangon. The tour aims to raise support from fans inSoutheast Asia.

This year, the event will feature 10 teams. Vietnamis in Group A alongside Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar and Malaysia. 

Vietnam will face Laos in their first match onNovember 8. Then they will next play Malaysia on November 16, Myanmar onNovember 20 and Cambodia on November 24.

The winning team will walk away with 200,000 USD,while the runners-up will receive 75,000 USD and the third-place team will get50,000 USD. Vietnamis the favourite for the AFF Cup 2018 after their strong performances at therecent AFC U23 Championships and Asian Games.-VNA
