-Vietnam triumphed at the Southeast Asian (SEA) Age Group Swimming Championshipswhich wrapped up on July 8 in Laguna, the Philippines.

The team brought home 58 gold, 39 silver and 22 bronze medals to rank first,while Thailand came second with 21 gold, 22 silver and 18 bronze medals.

Notably, young swimmer Tran Hung Nguyen shone in the regional event, grabbing20 medals in the boys’ 14-15 age group, including 18 golds, one silver and onebronze, while breaking two tournament records.

In the women’s event, Tran Ngoc Thi snatched eight golds in the both team andindividual events in the girls’ 14-15 category. Nguyen Diep Phuong Tram baggedfive gold medals in the girls’ 16-18.

꧋ Nguyen Huy Hoang also performed outstandingly in the boys’ 16-18 divisionwith six golds and broke three regional records in the 400m freestyle, 400mmedley and 1,500m freestyle.-VNS/VNA

ꦉ Vietnam re-elected to 2005 UNESCO Convention’s Intergovernmental Committee
