Vietnam tops at Southeast Asian Swimming championship

The Vietnamese team topped at the Southeast Asian Age Group Swimming Championship which took place from December 9 – 11 in Thailand, said Vietnam Aquatic Sports Association on December 12.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnamese teamtopped at the Southeast Asian Age Group Swimming Championship which took placefrom December 9 – 11 in Thailand, said Vietnam Aquatic Sports Association onDecember 12.

Vietnamese athletes won 39 gold medals and set14 new records. Among them, 15 year-old swimmer Nguyen Diep Phuong Tram grabbednine golds and set three records. 

Tram is a potential athlete who has gainedvarious impressive achievements at domestic competitions. Particularly at thenational swimming championship 2015 in Da Nang, she finished at 27.60 seconds in the 50m butterfly event, breaking the national record set by Nguyen ThiAnh Vien, Vietnam’s top swimmer.

Indonesia came second at the competition with 24 golds, followed by Singaporewith 18 golds. The host country Thailand took only one gold.-VNA

👍 Vietnam re-elected to 2005 UNESCO Convention’s Intergovernmental Committee

This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee.
