Phu Tho (VNA)🅘 – Vietnam opened their 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers with a landslide 7-0 victory over the Maldives at Viet Tri stadium in Phu Tho province on June 29 night.

The hosts took early control of the match, and ending the first half with a commanding 6-0 lead. The final goal came midway through the second half, sealing a comprehensive win for Vietnam.
This marks Vietnam’s fourth consecutive win over the Maldives without conceding a goal, highlighting the gap in quality between the two sides. Head coach Mai Duc Chung reaffirmed Vietnam’s aim to top Group E, which also includes the UAE and Guam. He noted that while all opponents are respected, Vietnam will maintain focused and determined in every match. Vietnam are set to face the UAE at 7pm on July 2, also at the Viet Tri stadium./.

On the evening of September 15 (local time), Algerian audiences enjoyed the Vietnamese film “Dao, Pho va Piano” (Peach Blossom, Pho and Piano). Vietnam was invited as the guest of honour at this year’s festival. In addition to the feature film, the country also introduced the documentary “Dien Bien: Land and People” and another featuring the 1954 Dien Bien Phu Victory for competition at the event.
