Vietnam unveil names for World Cup match against Thailand

A list of 23 players of Vietnam’s national football team for the match against Thailand in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on September 5 has been announced.

Hanoi (VNA) – A list of 23 players of Vietnam’s national football team for the matchagainst Thailand in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on September 5 has been announced.

Dang Van Lam ofMuangthong United, Nguyen Tuan Manh of Khanh Hoa and Pham Van Cuong of QuangNam FC will serve as the team’s goalkeepers.

Meanwhile, sevendefenders comprise of Doan Van Hau, Do Duy Manh, Tran Van Kien, and NguyenThanh Chung of Hanoi FC; Que Ngoc Hai and Bui Tien Dung of Viettel and NguyenHuu Tuan of Ho Chi Minh City FC.

There are ninemidfielders in the team, with three of Hanoi FC (Pham Duc Huy, Do Hung Dung andNguyen Quang Hai), four of Hoang Anh Gia Lai (Vu Van Thanh, Nguyen Phong HongDuy, Nguyen Tuan Anh and Luong Xuan Truong), along with Nguyen Huy Hung ofQuang Nam FC and Nguyen Trong Hoang of Viettel.

The team’s forwardswill be Nguyen Anh Duc and Nguyen Tien Linh of Becamex Binh Duong, Nguyen VanToan of Hoang Anh Gia Lai and Nguyen Cong Phuong of Belgian team Sint-TrudenseVV.

The Vietnam-Thailand matchwill kick off at 7:00 pm at the Thammasat University Stadium in Pathum Thani province,40 km from Bangkok.

The 2022 FIFA WorldCup’s second qualifying round for Asia features 40 teams, divided into eightgroups of five teams, playing in the home-away format.

Vietnam have beendrawn in Group G with regional rivals Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia, as wellas group favourites the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The eight groupwinners and four best runners-up will qualify for the AFC Asian Cup 2023 to beheld in China as well as the third and final round of World Cup qualifiers.–VNA
