Vietnam-US seminar highlights Vietnamese literature

Writers from Vietnam and the US gathered in the northern province of Hoa Binh on June 2 to talk about the promotion of post-war Vietnamese literature in the US and other countries.

Representatives of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee’sPropaganda and Education Commission, the Foreign Ministry and theMinistry of Culture, Sports and Tourism attended the event.

The seminar underlined the mission of Vietnamese writers andpoets in promoting Vietnam ’s image to foreign countries whilehighlighting the significant role of peace-loving US writers inintroducing Vietnamese special literary works to US readers through theWilliam Joiner Centre of Massachusetts University.

Theparticipants focused their discussions on cultural and literaryexchanges between the two countries over the past 35 years as well asactivities of Vietnamese authors and researchers at conferences andcultural exchange events in the US .

They alsoshared their views on the influence of Vietnamese culture and literatureon Americans people.

On the sideline of the seminar,which was organised by Hanoi University of Culture, the two countries’writers and poets attended a poetry night in Kim Boi district, Hoa Binhprovince. Earlier, they met with literature students at HanoiEducation University and attended a painting-music exhibition inHanoi./.

🐷 Vietnam re-elected to 2005 UNESCO Convention’s Intergovernmental Committee

This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee.
