Vietnam Week opens in St. Petersburg

A Vietnam Week has opened in St. Petersburg with a series of culture, sports and business activities aiming to strengthen friendship and cooperation between the Russian city and Vietnam.

Moscow (VNA) – A Vietnam Week has opened in St.Petersburg with a series of culture, sports and business activities aiming tostrengthen friendship and cooperation between the Russian city andVietnam.

The week, upgraded from the annual Vietnam Days in St.Petersburg that was first held in 2018, started with an international footballtournament drawing four international and four Russian teams.

On May 16, a friendly chess exchange was held forVietnamese, Myanmar and Indonesian students with Russian grandmaster AlexeiLugovoi.

An online class on Vietnamese and Russian traditional cuisine was alsoorganised for students of Vietnam’s Thu Duc College of Technology in Ho ChiMinh City and St. Petersburg Culinary School, during which chefs performed stepsof cooking traditional Russian and Vietnamese dishes such as okroshka, banhchung (square glutinous rice cake), and spring rolls.

Acting Director of the St. Petersburg Culinary School OlgaPanikhidina and President of the Thu Duc College of Technology Vo Long Trieuagreed to jointly organise regular training courses to provide Vietnamese andRussian students with a deeper insight of the rich culture and history of the twonations.

At the same time, a conference on history and national patriotism education amongyoungsters was held with the participation of a large number of leading schools of Hanoiand Ho Chi Minh City./.

Vietnam re-elected to 2005 UNESCO Convention’s Inꦐtergovernmental Committee

This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee. The exhibition showcases more than 100 valuable documents and artifacts, divided into two main parts: “Journalist Nguyen Ai Quoc – Ho Chi Minh” and “President Ho Chi Minh – Founder and Mentor of Vietnamese Revolutionary Press.” This is an opportunity to recall the late leader’s journalism journey and affirm his exceptional role in founding and guiding the revolutionary press in Vietnam.
