Hanoi (VNA) – The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV)is willing to team up with Asian political parties in tackling climate changeissues in the region and in the world, stated Nguyen Thi Hoang Van, deputy headof the Party Central Committee's Commission for External Relations.

Van, who headed a Vietnamese party delegation to the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP)’s special climate change seminar on December 8, shared the nation’s experience, policy and internationalcollaboration efforts regarding the matter.

She also took note of Vietnam’s recent commitment at the 26thUnited Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) on obtainingnet zero by 2050.

The CPV was among 31 parties of 23 nations attending the virtualevent.

Highlighting the role of Asian political parties in the realisationof the net zero target, the seminar adopted a joint statement, which affirmed theimportance of maintaining and promoting cooperation among political parties, governments,international organisations and the private sector to achieve an inclusive andpeople-centred roadmap toward the goal./.

In 2019, Quang Ninh became one of the first localities in Vietnam to launch a province-wide campaign against plastic waste, mobilising the participation of the political system, the business sector, and the general public.
