Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam secured three silver and two bronze medals at the King’s Cup 2024 - the International Sepak Takraw Federation (ISTAF) World Sepaktakraw Championship in Thailand.

One of the silver medals was earned by the Vietnamese women’s team in the quadrant event on September 8, the final day of the week-long tournament, when they lost to the host in the championship title match. Despite their excellent performance in the final, the Vietnamese women also failed to win over their Thai rivals.

Another silver was gained by male Vietnamese players who were defeated by the host team in the final of the quadrant event.

Earlier, Vietnam won two bronzes in the hoop events. In the women's category, Vietnam placed third below Thailand and Cambodia, while in the men's class, it followed the hosts and Myanmar.

According to the coaching board, hoop was not Vietnam’s strong point, so the results were encouraging for all players.

The team arrived in Thailand with a target of winning at least gold in the women's quad (team of four) event, in which Vietnam are the defending champions.

🐲 This year's tournament featured 29 teams competing across 17 events./.
