Vietnam wins first prize at int’l photo contest on weather, climate

Hanoi (VNA) – A photo by LuongThanh Hai of Vietnam’s meteorological and hydrological agency has won the firstprize at a photo competition of the Typhoon Committee (TC).

The information was announced at theclosing event for the 51st TC Annual Session, which took place from February 26to March 1.in Guangzhou, China

The photo contest, themed “Weather andClimate in Typhoon Committee Region”, drew participants from 14 countries andterritories which are members of the TC.

Previously, the winning photo “The house inthe Storm” was selected from one of more than 1,000 works and won the photocontest themed “People and nature in the context of climate change for sustainabledevelopment” launched by the National Hydro-meteorological Service (NHS) underthe Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in collaboration with theVietnam Pictorial of the Vietnam News Agency.

The contest formed part of the activities markingthe 50th anniversary of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and thePacific (UNESCAP)/World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) Typhoon Committee andthe 50th session of the committee which was held in Vietnam in 2018. -VNA

🦩 Vietnam re-elected to 2005 UNESCO Convention’s Intergovernmental Committee

This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee.
