Hanoi (VNA) - 🐻Vietnam won a gold and a silver medal at the International Boxing Tournament Balkan 2015, which ended in Bulgaria on November 15.
The gold medal was won by Hanoian Nguyen Thi Huyen Phuong in the women's 48kg category, while Ha Thi Linh, the 2013 Southeast Asian Games gold medallist, took the silver medal in the women's 57kg category.
Vietnam sent four boxers to the seven-day event, in which 130 competitors from 21 countries and territories participated.
"The tournament attracted leading European competitors, and gave Vietnamese players a chance to hone their skills and gain experience for the coming qualifying rounds of the 2016 Olympics," Vietnam's women's coach Nguyen Nhu Cuong said.-VNA
Two Vietnamese boxers, Tran Phu Cuong and Truong Dinh Hoang, secured tickets to the quarter-finals of the 2015 Asian men's boxing championship in Bangkok, Thailand on August 30.
The ambassador noted that among the 300,000 Vietnamese residing in the RoK, around 3,000 are living in Pyeongtaek and contributing actively to the local economy. Ho expressed his hope that the local authorities will continue support the overseas Vietnamese community in the city.
