Vietnamese -American piano child prodigy to perform in HCM City

HCM City (VNA) - Vietnamese - American pianist child prodigy Evan Le willperform in Ho Chi Minh City on December 17 during his first visit to Vietnam.

Evan Le willperform at the SOUL Christmas Charity Concert located at the SOUL Live Projectin district 3 of HCM City. The proceeds of the concert will go to the TrinhCong Son Foundation to help talented Vietnamese children who are passionateabout music.

The 5-year old will sing two songs written by musician Trinh CongSon. He will also play piano with Vietnamese pianist Tuan Manh.

“I was excited to watch him perform. I watched his performances onUS television and I was very impressed and proud that he has Vietnamese origin,”said Trinh Vinh Trinh, sister of Trinh Cong Son.

Singer Thanh Bui, who invited Evan Le to perform in Vietnam, said:“Bringing the world to Vietnam, and then bringing Vietnam back to the world andconnecting the Vietnamese community to the world. That is the important thing Iam determined to do. To do this, inviting international talents to Vietnam isvery important. If young talents in Vietnam meet Evan Le, they will beencouraged to pursue their passion”.

“In Vietnam, some people think classical music is obsolete. Butclassical music is very important. We should understand the value of classicalmusic to honour it,” he said.

At five yearsold and having studied the piano for just two years, Evan Le is regarded as achild prodigy by fans when they watch him play music by Mozart, J.S. Bach, Beethovenand Alberto Ginastera.

Evan Le (officially Evan Duy Quoc Le) is considered an extraordinaryboy.

Born to parents without any background in music,Evan’s musical journey was not easy.  However, he was attracted tothe music at a very young age. By the time Evan was three, he was able tolisten to simple nursery rhymes and play similar tunes on the piano, at firstwith one hand and then with both. In December 2014, Evan had hisfirst piano lesson. Besides having perfect pitch, Evan reads and memorises musicpieces incredibly fast. In addition, his ability to compose has amazed histeachers. 

Even though he was born in the US, he speaks Vietnamese fluently. Besides playingpiano masterpieces, he loves singing and playing Vietnamese music.

Last year, at the age of 4, he won third prize at the Vstar Kidsevent in the US, with only seven months of piano experience. Since then hebecame a Youtube phenomenon, with his videos attracting millions of views. 

In July 2016, he won first prize at theSouthwestern Youth Music Festival, an annual music competition in California,which is devoted to children aged 11 and under.

In June 2016, he won first place at the MTACOrange County Piano Competition which was organised by Music Teachers’Association of California,.

In the show Little Big Shots on the NBC television channel, afterEvan Le played Turkish March, Steve Harvey was amazed and carried the child inhis arms when they were on the stage.-VNA
