Vietnamese architect Vo Trong Nghia has bagged the Arcasia Awards for Architecture 2017 of the Architects Regional Council Asia.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese architect Vo Trong Nghia has bagged the ArcasiaAwards for Architecture 2017 of the Architects Regional Council Asia.
At the19th Arcasia Forum held in Jaipur, India in late May, Nghia was named as winnerin the Public Amenity Buildings – Commercial category, with his project Son LaRestaurant.
Theproject also received a mention in the Sustainability category.
Born in1976 in central Quang Binh province, Vo Trong Nghia is putting Vietnamesesustainable architecture on the map by combining local materials andtraditional skills with 21st century design.
With afocus on green spaces, his designs range from large urban structures to durablebut inexpensive housing for remote communities. His approach to urban designhelp shape the future of Vietnam architecture and transforming the country’surban landscape. At the core of his practice, Nghia hopes to use the physicalenvironment to reconnect humans with nature.
TheArcasia Awards for Architecture is aimed at acknowledging exemplary work doneby architects working in Asia. In doing so, it encourages the sustenance of theAsian spirit, the development and improvement of the Asian built environmentand enhancement of the awareness of the role of architecture and architects inthe socio-economic and cultural life of Asian countries.-VNA
