Vietnamese boxer wins gold at int’l tournament in Bulgaria

Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnamese female boxer Nguyen Thi Tam secured a gold medalat the fourth Women’s and Women’s Youth Boxing Tournament in Bulgaria onOctober 16.

Tam beat four rivals in the women’s 51kgcategory to take the title.

She is a leading boxer of Vietnam in thiscategory and add this gold to the bronze in the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesialast month and a gold at the Asian Boxing Championship held in Ho Chi Minh Citylast year.

In addition to Tam’s gold medal, Vietnam won twomore silvers and one bronze. The silvers went to Do Thi Thuy in the 54kg andNguyen Thanh Thanh Thom in the 57kg. The bronze was won by Nguyen Thi Huong inthe 75kg category.

Vietnam sent five boxers to the event whichattracted of 200 fighters from 17 countries.

They will next be on the ring at the NationalSports Games in late November in Hanoi.-VNA
