Hanoi (VNS/VNA) – Vietnamese cyclists on June 8 wonone gold medal and one bronze at the 29th Asian Junior Road CyclingChampionships in Rayong, Thailand.
Nguyen Thi Be Hong, 18, finished first in the women's individualtime trial event. She completed the 15km race in a time of 23.43min.
Asal Rizaeva of Uzbekistan came second on 23.48 and Lee Chai Rougfrom Chinese Taipei was third in 23.56.
Pham Le Xuan Loc, 18, pocketed a bronze in the men's event. Hetook 39.43min to finish the 30km race.
Mikhail Podluzhnyy of Kazakhstan was first (38.49min), followed byMuhammad Nurahmat of Indonesia (39.22).
The Vietnamese team will also take part in the 42nd Asian RoadCycling Championship on June 9.
The gold medal hope is defending champion Nguyen Thi That who justwon a title at the 32nd SEA Games in May in Cambodia, and Quang Van Cuong whowon gold in the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam.
"We expect to get the highest results from this tournament.All cyclists including young ones will sharpen their skills," said NguyenNgoc Vu, General Secretary of the Vietnam Cycling and Motor Sports Federation.
An international cycling tournament linking Vietnam’s northern border province of Lao Cai with China’s Hong He concluded on December 8, with the participation more than 800 Vietnamese and Chinese cyclists.
Regional cyclists, including Bui Thi Quynh of Vietnam, are competing at the ongoing Tour of Thailand 2022, about a month prior to the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31) to be hosted by Vietnam.
The ambassador noted that among the 300,000 Vietnamese residing in the RoK, around 3,000 are living in Pyeongtaek and contributing actively to the local economy. Ho expressed his hope that the local authorities will continue support the overseas Vietnamese community in the city.
This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee. The outcome shows the trust and recognition that member states have given Vietnam for its efforts and achievements in carrying out and promoting the Convention, as well as for its active role, strong standing, and growing credibility at UNESCO.

For the first time, the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) has granted Vietnam hosting rights for the two championships, including the Asian women’s solo category, which debuts this year as an officially recognised event.
Eight teams will join the tournament, divided into two groups. Group A features Vietnam, the Philippines, Sichuan Club (China), and Australia, while Group B consists of Vietnam U21, Korabelka Club (Russia), Taiwan (China), and U21 Thailand.

For the first time, Vietnamese audiences will have the opportunity to experience the ballet masterpiece "Don Quixote" in its original version by renowned choreographer Marius Petipa.
