Vietnamese designers revive fashion amid pandemic

Vietnamese fashion designers, who have postponed their new collections due to the pandemic, have had a strong comeback at the recent Aquafina Vietnam International Fashion Week (AVIFW) 2021.

HCM City (VNS/VNA) - Vietnamese fashion designers, who havepostponed their new collections due to the pandemic, have had a strong comebackat the recent Aquafina Vietnam International Fashion Week (AVIFW) 2021.

Thirteen Vietnamese designers and fashion brands introduced new collections ofevening gowns, suits, streetwear, and ao dai (Vietnamese traditional dresses)for adults and children during the event held recently in Ho Chi Minh City.

Designs were made with high-quality materials, including metallic fabrics,silk, organza, lace, and velvet with hand-embroidered and printed patterns.

Famous designer Adrian Anh Tuan presented the AVIFW 2021 last week with hislatest collection called "Cham" (Touching) featuring designs for menand women, including evening gowns, suits, long coats, and retro-styled ao dai,along with colourful dresses.

Handbags in leather and accessories were also included.

Adrian Anh Tuan, founder of fashion brand Valenciani, said he named hiscollection “Cham” with the message “Let people 'touch' each other after along-period social distancing.”

He said “Cham” is sometimes a contact through the eyes or soul. "Let's beopen to welcome a brighter future," he said.

Designer Nguyen Tien Truyen debuted his brand “Maison Tei by Nguyen Tien Truyen”with his "Maison Tei Spring/Summer 2022” collection.

The collection featured suits, dress suits, bodysuits, T-shirts and shirts in modernstyle and form, blending colours of black, blue, latte and pink to reflect therevival of the city.

Ao dai designer Minh Chau brought her collection called “Hoi Sinh” (Revival)highlighting the beauty of ao dai in voile and embroidered with Vietnamesetraditional patterns like a white lotus.

Young designer Quy Cao, winner of the fashion contest TikTok FashUP 2021,impressed fashion lovers with his collection “Follow the Chemistry” featuringstreetwear in vivid colours and innovative designs inspired by ao dai.

Devon Nguyen, who closed the AVIFW 2021, introduced the collection “Future isNow” with designs for women like suits, dresses and long coats in metallicfabric and voile, highlighting a futuristic style.

Devon, founder of fashion brand Devon London by Devon Nguyen, said she wantedto send a message of letting go of illusions and paying attention to reality.

The AVIFW 2021 also saw the participation of other Vietnamese designers andbrands like Hoang Hai, Ivan Tran, and Le Long Dung.

The catwalk performance featured winners from Vietnamese beauty pageants, andtop models.

The Vietnam International Fashion Week, first held in 2014, has become theleading fashion event in Southeast Asia and the fourth largest in Asia afterTokyo, Seoul, and Shanghai fashion weeks./.
