Project Runway Vietnam runners-up Chau Chan Hung and Ha Hong Lam willparticipate in the 2015 Asia New Generation Fashion Designer Award inSingapore from May 13 to 17.
The two young fashion designers willcompete against their peers from other Asian countries. Thecompetition, first organised by the magazine Harper's Bazaar in 2013,aims to create opportunities for young designers who are on track tojoin the international fashion industry.
"I'm veryexcited and hope that I will confirm my spot in the Asian market, andthen conquer the international market," Hung said.
Hung brings materials together to make sophisticated outfits, and hiscuts match global trends without losing their uniqueness.
His success in Project Runway Vietnam motivated Hung to establish his own brand, Maison Des Copains.
His collections include Su Chuyen Dong Cua Nhung Canh Hoa (TheMovements of Petals, which debuted in the finale of Vietnam's Next TopModel 2013), Kinh Van Hoa Xuan (Spring Kaleiscope) and Modern Bloom.
Lam was the only female fashion designer to make it to the finale ofProject Runway Vietnam 2014. Lam's designs show that she can handleintricate tailoring and refined cuts.
"Iparticipated in the contest with all my passion and enthusiasm forfashion," Lam said. "I'm lucky to be able to challenge myself bycompeting with my international peers."
Lam and Hungwill also have the opportunity to work with a jury of Asian fashionindustry leaders and photographers. The contestants will be judged bytheir creativeness and sense of aestheticism.
Thecompetition's winner will present his or her collections in editions ofHarper's Bazaar in Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam.
The winner will also earn a scholarship for a Master'scourse in Fashion and Luxury Brand Management at the Instituto Marangoniin London, in addition to other prizes.-VNA
