Vietnamese designers to present spring-summer collections

Hanoi (VNA) - The Vietnam Spring Summer Fashion Week 2020 starting on September 13will present the latest collections by leading designers of the country.

Naturalmaterials are in vogue this year, with the aim of bringingconvenience in spring/summer when the weather is getting hotter due toclimate change, according to designer Minh Hanh, founder of theevent.             

The fashion week will be held at Dien Hong Garden (formerly Chavassieux Square)in Hanoi’s Hoan Kiem district.                                                          
“Inrecent years, we have held the fashion week at public venues to eliminate theborder between fashion catwalks and life; it’s good to bring fashioncloser to the people,” said Hanh.

Thethree-day event will feature 750 outfits by GenViet Jeans and 14 designers.They show different inspirations and themes, but all focus on the spring/summerseason.

TrinhThanh Hai, owner of GenViet Jeans brand, said fashion should follow trends, butnever separate itself from local culture, which is part of the message ofher collection 'Where I Am Living'.

Youngdesigner Nhi Hoang has experimented with traditional silk, usingmaterial from Nha Xa village (Ha Nam province) and Bao Loc city in the Central Highlands provinceof Lam Dong.

Spanishdesigner Diego Cortizas, owner of Chula brand, has participated in the fashionweek for 10 years. This year he's using linen from northern Sa Pa town and silkfrom central Da Nang city.

“I havemany years working in the field of fashion in Vietnam. I want to preservethe identity and tradition of Vietnam but still tend to modernity in thedesigns,” he said./.
