Vietnamese Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village hosts numerous activities in May

The Vietnamese Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village in surburban Hanoi will host numerous activities in May to celebrate the 134th birthday anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh.

Hanoi (VNS/VNA) – The Vietnamese Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village in surburban Hanoi will host numerous activities in May to celebrate the 134th birthday anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh.

With the theme 'Follow His Footsteps', the May programme of the Vietnamese Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village also celebrates the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory and anniversaries of the Ho Chi Minh Trail Opening Day and Trường Sơn Soldiers' Tradition Day.

The event recreates the Victory Celebration of the Gia Rai ethnic group, Gia Lai province.

It features folk songs and dances themed 'Central Highlands with Uncle Ho, Uncle Ho with the Central Highlands' and displays a photo exhibition about Ho Chi Minh and General Vo Nguyen Giap.

The programme also marks Buddha's Birthday and the activities of living ethnic groups in the village. It features 25 Gia Rai ethnic artisans in Gia Lai povince attending the events on May 18 and 19.

Vietnam is home to 54 ethnic groups, each of which has its own unique cultural identity. At the Vietnamese Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village, ethnic minority people join State agencies and experts in preserving and introducing their communities’ cultural values to visitors.

The village, located in the Dong Mo tourism area in Hanoi’s Son Tay township, is described as a 'common home' of the 54 ethnic groups across the nation. It has a total area of 1,544ha with seven functional zones. Among them, the zone for ethnic minority villages is considered the heart of the culture-tourism village.

The village's residents also introduce to tourists their own cultural practices, including folk games, crafts, cuisine and other activities. They also include cultural practices like picking tea, weaving, crafting, manufacturing musical instruments, brewing wine and preparing traditional remedies./.
