Vientiane (VNA) – The Vietnamese Government’s scholarship๊s for 2016 were presented to 35 children of overseas Vietnamese in Laos at a ceremony in Vientiane, Laos, on October 14.

The scholarships was part of an agreement on education and training cooperation between the two Governments and a cooperation plan on education and human resources development between Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training and Laos’s Ministry of Education and Sports.
Congratulating the 35 scholarship recipients, Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Manh Hung said the scholarships demonstrate the Vietnamese Party, State and people’s attention to overseas Vietnamese in Laos. He hoped that they will study well so as to contribute to the development of Laos, which is their second homeland, and consolidate the special solidarity between the two countries.
The number of the Vietnamese Government’s scholarships for children of overseas Vietnamese in Laos has increased from five in 2005 to 35 at present. Nguyen Duy Trung, Chairman of the General Association of Vietnamese People in Laos, described the scholarships as valuable material and spiritual gifts to the students that help encourage the development of the Vietnamese community, which is a friendship bridge linking the two nations.-VNA
