Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnamese masters won two goldmedals at the World Youth U14, U16, and U18 Rapid and BlitzChess Championships, which is ongoing in Greece.

International master (IM) Nguyen Anh Khoi won the boy’s U16rapid category after nine wins. Khoi, the former world U10 and U12 standardchess champion, is seeded No 5. He successfully defeated the top fourseeds to lead the category, leaving his closest rival IM Adam Kozakof Hungary far behind with seven points.

FIDE master Felix Blohberger of Austria came third with thesame points as No 2 Kozak but having lower parameter.

In the boy’s U14 event, FM Ngo Duc Tri wasthe champion grabbing 7.5 points. The No. 12 seed wonseven matches, drew one and lost one match.

Nikolaos Spyropoulos of the hosts took the silver with sevenpoints, followed by Daniel Dardha of Belgium.

Athletes will continue with the blitz chess matchesin the last days of October.-VNA
