Vietnamese gymnasts to compete at Doha World Cup

Vietnamese athletes are taking part in the 10th Artistic Gymnastics World Cup, which kicked off in Doha, Qatar, on March 22.

Hanoi (VNA) -Vietnamese athletes are taking part in the 10th Artistic Gymnastics World Cup,which kicked off in Doha, Qatar, on March 22.

More than 120 gymnasts, includingOlympic Champions, from 31 countries participated in the four-day prestigiousevent.

Vietnamese Olympian Pham Phuoc Hungis taking part in exercises on the rings and parallel bars in the men’s category.At this event last year, Hung pocketed a bronze medal in the parallel barsevent.

His Southeast Asian Games winningteammate Dinh Phuong Thanh is  competingin the men’s pommel horse, horizontal bar and parallel bars category.

Thanh topped the parallel barsevent at the Szombathely World Challenge Cup in Hungary last year.

Le Thanh Tung is testing hisskills in the men’s floor and vault exercises. Tung’s best result at aworld-level competition is a bronze medal he won at the Varna World ChallengeCup in Bulgaria two years ago.

He is joined by teammate Dang Namin the latter event. Nam was one of top three athletes in the Szombathely eventlast year.

The qualification rounds will beconducted in the first two days of the event. The top eight athletes willadvance to the finals in the next two days.-VNA
