Hanoi(VNA) - Fox Sport Asia has selected the Team of the Tournament after the end ofthe AFF Suzuki Cup, with two Vietnamese in the line-up.
Defender Vu Van Thanh,who made headlines and was praised during the one-month event, secured a spot.
Fox said Thanh, 20,was certainly a player for the future, after his impressive performances. Hewas solid in defence, but also had the ability to be a danger up front andcould even play as a winger. Despite his forward forays, he was rarely caughtout of position.
The left-back scoredtwo goals for Vietnam. One was in a match against Cambodia in the group round,while another was in the semi-finals versus Indonesia.
The second Vietnameseselected by Fox was striker Le Cong Vinh, who retired from football after thetournament.
In its article, Foxsaid although Vietnam lost out in the semi-finals, the 31-year-old Vinh stilldid enough to justify his being selected, scoring two goals during the groupstage, while leading the frontline with intelligence.
His all-round play andability to bring his teammates into the action proved invaluable.
The Fox list alsoincludes six Thai players, including midfielder Chanathip Songkrasin, whois the Cup’s MVP, best scorer Teerasil Dangda, and three Indonesianplayers -- defender Fachrudin Aryato, midfielder Stefano Lilipalyand forward Boaz Salossa.
Thailand won theCup for the fifth time, beating Indonesia 3-2 after two legs of the final.

Le Cong Vinh’s 50 th goal for the national team secured a 2-1 win for Vietnam over hosts Myanmar in the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Cup’s Group B second match on November 20 in Yangon.
Vietnam defeated Malaysia 1-0 to maintain its leading position in Group B with six points after two matches and secure a place in the semifinals of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2016.
