Vietnamese swimmers secure three titles at Thailand Finswimming World Cup

Vietnamese athletes have made a strong showing at the ongoing 18th CMAS Finswimming World Cup 2024 Round 4 in Phuket, Thailand, claiming three gold medals.

Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - Vietnamese athletes have made a strong showing at the ongoing 18th CMAS Finswimming World Cup 2024 Round 4 in Phuket, Thailand, claiming three gold medals.

On the opening day of competitions on September 6, Vietnam dominated the men's 100m surface event.

Nguyen Trung Kien took a gold in a time of 35.93sec, followed by SEA Games champion Nguyen Thanh Loc (36.37) and Do Dinh Toan (36.74).

The second gold went to young Huynh Quoc Bao in the boys' 12-17 year-old 1.500m surface. He finished first in a time of 13min 19.78sec.

His female teammates were superb in the girls' category taking all top three positions.

Nguyen Tran San San topped the podium timing 14:19.12. She was followed by Ho Ngoc Tuong Lam and Huynh Le Thanh.

Vietnamese competitors also took seven silvers and four bronzes in other categories.

Vietnam sent 34 athletes to the World Cup, taking part in almost all events for seniors and juniors.

ౠ As many as 200 athletes of 22 teams take part in this tournament, vying for official slots at the World Games 2025./.
