Vietnamese volleyballers set for SEA Games

The 25-member national men's and women's volleyball teams will be summoned on January 10 in preparation for the 28th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

Both key players and fresh members, especially in the women's team, will be called.

Thereare no great changes to the men's line-up, which includes veterans suchas Nguyen Huu Ha, Le Quang Khanh, Tu Thanh Thuan and Hoang Van Phuong,as well as Giang Van Duc.

Coach Phung Cong Hung has added somenew players too, including Nguyen Van Du, Le Hoai Han and Nguyen CongChien. But he has ignored rising players Luu Dinh Toan, Bui Thien Menand Bui Van Hai.

A large number of the female veterans will beabsent, but this had been predicted earlier. While Pham Thi Yen, Ha ThiHoa and Pham Kim Hue have said goodbye to the team, Do Thi Minh, NguyenThi Ngoc Hoa, Nguyen Thi Xuan and Dao Thi Huyen will be absent becauseof personal reasons.

Nguyen Linh Chi, Le Thanh Thuy, Dinh Thi TraGiang and Le Thi Hong will be among the new faces who will take theveterans' places.

Coach Pham Van Long of the women's team saidthat the team members would go through another round of selectionsduring the training.

The Vietnamese women's team had won a silver medal at the 27th SEA Games held in Myanmar in 2013.-VNA
