Vietnamese women’s Sepak Takraw team wins world championship in quadrant event

Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnamese women's team claimed the championship title in the quadrant event after a comeback 2-1 victory over Thailand at the World Sepak Takraw Championship Thai King’s Cup 2025 on July 27.
This marks the third time the Vietnamese women's team has won the world title in this event, following their previous victories in 2022 and 2023.
After losing the first set 12–15, they made a strong comeback, winning the next two sets 15–8 and 15–7. The decisive point came from a net serve error by Wiphada Chitphuan, which made the host hand the world championship title to Vietnam.
Earlier, Thailand had also been Vietnam’s opponent in the women’s regu event final. However, the Vietnamese players were unable to overcome the host team and had to settle for the silver medal.
🐠 The Sepak Takraw World Championship is held annually in Thailand, and this year marked its 38th edition, held from July 22 to 28./.
Vietnam secured three silver and two bronze medals at the King’s Cup 2024 - the International Sepak Takraw Federation (ISTAF) World Sepaktakraw Championship in Thailand.
This year’s tournament brings together nearly 400 athletes and coaches from 10 Asian countries. Competitors will vie for 32 sets of medals across the two main categories of combat and performance.
