This was the third time for the university and second time for Liem to triumph in a row at the annual tournament.

ThePresident's Cup, which was previously named the Final Four of CollegeChess, lures the strongest teams of the Pan-American IntercollegiateTeam Chess Championship.

The three other competing teams were from the University of Texas, Texas Tech University and the University of Maryland.

At the March 27-29 event, all three matches were won and topped at the tournament.

Thiswas Liem's third title within a month, as he also won gold medalsduring the World Cup's Zone 3.3 qualifying round and the InternationalHD Bank chess tournament in HCM City earlier this month.-VNA
