Vietnam’s contemporary art displayed at London Design Biennale

Vietnamese contemporary art projects have been showcased for the first time at the annual London Design Biennale that opened in London, the UK, on September 3 under the theme Emotional States.

London (VNA) – Vietnamese contemporary art projectshave been showcased for the first time at the annual London Design Biennalethat opened in London, the UK, on September 3 under the theme Emotional States.

This year’s event attracts artists, designersand inventors in the field of culture from more than 40 countries andterritories. They will together explore big questions and ideas aboutsustainability, migration, pollution and energy so as to help create positivechanges in the face of these global challenges.

Among the three Vietnamese artists featured atthe exhibition, fashion designer Thao Vu has elevated traditional fabric makingto contemporary couture. Multidisciplinary designer Giang Nguyen has trawledthrough past decades to unearth patterns, fonts and colours. Meanwhile, visualartist Le Thanh Tung has inserted the symbolism of yesteryears into multimediagenres.

Tung said he is happy to be at the London DesignBiennale 2018 and coordinate with Thao Vu and Giang Nguyen to introduceVietnam’s traditional culture combined with contemporary arts and technology tointernational friends.

Their presence at the exhibition is among aseries of activities marking 45 years of the Vietnam-UK diplomaticrelationship. More events will be organised in September and October by theVietnamese Embassy in the UK, British agencies, the Vietnam-UK Network, theVietnamese Association in the UK, and the Vietnamese Student Association in theUK.–VNA

Vietnam re-elected to 2005 UNESCO Convention’s Intergovernm🔯ental Committee

This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee. Exhibition features President Ho Chi Minh as founder of꧂ Vietnam’s revolutionary press

The exhibition showcases more than 100 valuable documents and artifacts, divided into two main parts: “Journalist Nguyen Ai Quoc – Ho Chi Minh” and “President Ho Chi Minh – Founder and Mentor of Vietnamese Revolutionary Press.” This is an opportunity to recall the late leader’s journalism journey and affirm his exceptional role in founding and guiding the revolutionary press in Vietnam.

Vietnam take silver in AFF U19 Final
