Vietnam’s pepper exports forecast to recover

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s pepper exports have shown signs ofrecovery, coming in at 45 million USD in September, a year-on-year surge of22.2 percent.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development’s AgroProcessing and Market Development Authority, the country shipped 18,000 tonnesof pepper abroad in the month, up 20.4 percent from the same time last year.

During the January-September period, the country earned 489 million USD fromselling 220,000 tonnes of pepper to foreign countries, down 5.9 percent involume and 17.6 percent in value year-on-year.

Experts forecast Vietnam’s pepper exports will get advantage in the time aheadthanks to robust signs from the main import markets like the US and India.

Besides, the European Union-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement(EVFTA) also opened various opportunities for Vietnamese pepper in the Europeanmarket.

Vietnam’s pepper prices are expected to surge as pepperprices have started moving up globally.

Experts recommended local firms to promote connectionswith international partners so as to enlarge consumption markets whileimproving product quality./.
