Canberra (VNA) – Chairwoman of theNational Assembly of Vietnam Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan arrived in Canberra onNovember 29, starting her official visit to Australia.
The relations between Vietnam and Australia havegrown rapidly and effectively in recent years, especially since theestablishment of bilateral comprehensive partnership in 2009 and the signing ofa declaration on enhancing Vietnam-Australia comprehensive partnership in March2015.
Australia considers Vietnam a key partner in theAssociation of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and highly values the role ofVietnam in the bloc.
Currently, Australia is the eighth biggest tradepartner of Vietnam with two-way trade growing by 10 percent each year to reach over5 billion USD in 2016.
So far, Australia has injected 1.7 billion USDin 378 projects, ranking 19th among 115 countries and territories investing inVietnam.
Australia is one of the largest providers ofnon-refundable official development assistance (ODA) for Vietnam with over 130million AUD per year in 2010-2015.
The two countries have strong cooperation ineducation, labour, tourism, and science-technology.
Along with the sound relations between the twocountries, the rapports between the Vietnamese and Australian parliaments aredeveloping. The ongoing visit to Australia by NA Chairwoman Ngan is expected topromote the comprehensive partnership with Australia, towards the strategicpartnership in 2018.
The visit also looks to beef up cooperative tiesbetween Vietnam’s National Assembly and Australia’s Senate and House ofRepresentatives as well as enhance bilateral cooperation in potential fieldssuch as economics, trade, development cooperation, agriculture, education,science-technology, environment-natural resources, tourism, culture andpeople-to-people exchanges.-VNA
Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance (MoF) and The Treasury of Australia will step up financial cooperation as per stipulated in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) inked by Minister Dinh Tien Dung and Treasurer Scott John Morrison.
President Tran Dai Quang has said that Vietnam and Australia have huge potential for cooperation, and called on the Australian side to continue its assistance to Vietnam in poverty reduction and gender equality.

Known as the “four pillars for Vietnam’s ascend”, the Pobiburo's Resolutions 57, 59, 66, and 68 focus on cultivating a robust national entrepreneurial spirit, unlocking resources for innovation across society, and accelerating the development of digital economy, knowledge-based economy, green economy, and circular economy, propelling Vietnam forward rapidly and firmly on the path of modernisation and international integration.
Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang cleared up deputies' concern regarding how to spur socio-economic growth, renew traditional growth motives and establish new momentum for development.

Highlighting the transformative potential of the draft law in revitalising Vietnam’s railway industry, Hoang Van Cuong, a deputy of Hanoi, expressed his support for Article 39, which empowers the Prime Minister to issue a list of railway-related goods and services to be assigned or ordered from domestic enterprises for production.
