Phat Tich Pagoda, also named Van Phuc, is located in Tien Du District, Bac Ninh Province. The pagoda is a historical and architectural sculpture and a unique art work left in Bac Ninh. It was built following the model of “Noi cong ngoai quoc” architectural style with many layers of houses, forming a style of “hundreds of compartments”. The whole pagoda was arranged as following: the three-entrance gate and the bell-tower stand in front, followed by 11 front compartments, 3 middle compartments, five upper compartments and two terraces with seven compartments along each terrace.
There are 10 animal statues in the pagoda, lying on lotus pedestals carved out of large stones that were dated back from the Ly Dynasty. Particularly, the pagoda has a precious stone statue of Buddha which is three meters tall. It is imbued with sculptures of the Ly Dynasty.
The pagoda also has a set of stone statues of Buddha which reached a high level of craftsmanship. There is a giant stone statue of Buddha on the peak of Phat Tich Mountain, which is 10m tall. This project was built to mark the 1,000th founding anniversary of Thang Long-Ha Noi. Phat Tich pagoda was recognised as a historical and cultural site in 1962.
