VN expands multi-faceted cooperation with Myanmar: Party leader

Yangon (VNA) – The Vietnamese Party and Governmentalways attach importance to developing and expanding the friendship andmulti-faceted cooperation with Myanmar in bilateral aspects as well as withinASEAN and at international forums, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong hassaid.
Meeting with leaders of Myanmar’s ruling National League forDemocracy (NLD) in Yangon on August 25, the Vietnamese leader spoke highly of theNLD’s important role and active contributions to the country’s recentachievements.
Party leader Trong, who is on a State visit toMyanmar, wished the NLD will continue to obtain more successes in promotingnational reconciliation, developing the economy, and raising the country’sstature in the region and the world.
He expressed his delight at the development ofthe two countries’ cooperation and traditional friendship in recent years,especially since Myanmar entered a new stage of development.
He underlined the Vietnamese and Myanmar leaders’ agreement on setting up acomprehensive cooperative partnership between the two countries. Accordingly,their ruling parties need to enhance cooperation and experience sharing for thesake of each nation’s development, their people’s interests, along with peace,stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
On behalf of the NLD leaders, Secretary of theNLD Central Executive Committee Nyan Win stressed the significance of hisguest’s visit to Myanmar, which he described as a support to the comprehensivenational reform which the NLD-cored Government of Myanmar is pushing for.
He highly valued the huge and historicachievements that the Vietnamese Party, State and people have attained over thethree decades of reform, considering them precious experience for the NLD andthe Myanmar Government.
Nyan Win said he hopes as the ruling parties,the NLD and the Communist Party of Vietnam will increase information andexperience exchange and coordinate at multilateral forums, thereby helping toreinforce the political basis for the Vietnam-Myanmar comprehensive cooperativepartnership.-VNA

During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
