Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam will meet Laos in the third-place match of the AFF U16 Girls' Championship at 3 pm on May 13 at Bumi Sriwijaya Stadium, Palembang, Indonesia.
At 7:30 pm the same day, Thailand and Myanmar will vie for the championship title in the final match, which will also take place at Bumi Sriwijaya Stadium.
Earlier on May 11, Vietnam lost to Thailand in the semi-finals of the tournment. The Vietnamese girls were defeated 4-5 in a penalty shootout following a goalless draw in official time and so miss the chance to play in the final.
In the other semi-final match, Myanmar beat Laos 6-5 after the two sides tied 1-1 in official time.
The 2018 AFF U-16 Girls' Championship, the third of itskind, is an international women'sfootball tournament organised by the ASEANFootball Federation (AFF). This year's event is hosted by Indonesia from May 1 to 13.-VNA

The Vietnam men’s football team have landed in Group A, the easier group of the upcoming 2018 AFF Suzuki Cup, according to the draw held on May 2 at the Hotel Mulia Senayan in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The Vietnamese team will gather on June 26 in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, where they will train until July 14 before departing for Indonesia for the ASEAN U23 Championship 2025, which runs from July 15 to 29. Vietnam will face Laos on July 19 and Cambodia on July 22 in the group stage.

The U23 competition will run from June 16 to 22, followed by the U17 event from June 23 to 28, while athletes competing in the U23 category will undergo weight and skill checks ahead of the matches starting June 18, while similar checks for U17 athletes will take place before June 23.
Vietnam continues to sit just behind continental powerhouses Japan, the Republic of Korea, Australia, China, and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).
