Hanoi (VNA) – An exhibition on war memories is unde⛎rway at the Vietnam Military History Museum in Hanoi.
The event, which opened on April 26, commemorates the 41st South Liberation and National Reunification Day (April 30) and the 62nd anniversary of the victory of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign (May 7) that ended French rule over Indochina.
Among more than 400 photos and items on display, many belonging to Vietnamese soldiers were returned by US veterans who fought in Vietnam.
The diary of martyr Nguyen Van Thac is also on display, as are letters written by martyrs Dang Thuy Tram and Nguyen Ngoc Quynh and the Feat of Arms Orders bestowed upon Commando Group 367.
The exhibits demonstrate the fierce war waged by the US in Vietnam and local people’s bravery.
They also include photos reflecting the normalisation and development of Vietnam– US relations, which the Vietnam – US Society presented to the museum.
The displayed items are among thousands of objects collected by the Military History Museum from 2010 to 2015.-VNA
