Binh Dinh (VNA) – A delegation of World Bank experts had a working session with Binh Dinhauthorities on February 14 seeking to address consequences of natural disastersin central provinces.

The expertssuggested Binh Dinh province focus investment on key projects, which couldadapt to severe impacts of natural calamities in the coming time.

According to theprovincial People’s Committee, floods in 2016 caused an economic loss of over2.2 trillion VND.

Thirty-nine peoplewere killed or unaccounted for, while hundreds houses were destroyed and 18,800hectares of rice were submerged.

Given the fact,Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc visited Binh Dinh in December to inspect thelocal rebuilding efforts.

The PM alsoentrusted the Ministry of Planning and Investment to coordinate with theMinistry of Agriculture and Rural Development to arrange an officialdevelopment assistance (ODA) package for Binh Dinh to rebuild transport andirrigation systems and enhance local capacity to cope with natural disasters.

On February 10,2017, the Government leader approved a proposal to lend 100 million USD fromthe World Bank to quickly address natural disaster consequences in some centralprovinces, including Binh Dinh, Quang Ngai, Phu Yen and Ninh Thuan.-VNA

PM orders strengthened disaster preparedness ahead of ♏storm season

Under the directive, the PM instructed relevant agencies to regularly inspect, supervise and proactively implement disaster prevention, response and rescue measures in line with their assigned roles and mandates, ensuring readiness, avoiding passivity or delays, and maintaining operational continuity amid ongoing political and administrative restructuring at levels.

Vietnam ramps up plastic waste recycling, reuse, tre𓂃atment efforts

In 2019, Quang Ninh became one of the first localities in Vietnam to launch a province-wide campaign against plastic waste, mobilising the participation of the political system, the business sector, and the general public. Other localities—such as Hai Phong, Da Nang, Binh Duong, and Ho Chi Minh City—have also effectively implemented waste-sorting initiatives at source, along with models for plastic-free markets and urban areas.

Renowned artists including Ha Anh Tuan, Den Vau, and Phan Manh Quynh, along with many directors and attendees, took part in planting hundreds of rare tree species such as mun (Diospyros mun) and cho chi (Parashorea chinensis) in the Thung Bong area of the Cuc Phuong National Park, contributing to forest ecosystem restoration.
