Da Nang (VNA) – Construction and urban managers are being equipped with knowledge to ๊build moder♏n and civilised urban areas in Vietnam, at an ongoing training course in the central city of Da Nang.

The course is being organised by the Academy of Managers for Construction and Cities in conjunction with the World Bank (WB) from March 14-18.
WB experts pledged to do their utmost to assist Vietnam in urban construction and development, especially through sharing success stories of urban areas across the world. The course members will look into such topics as urbanisation and urban orientations; urban planning management in rural areas; heritage preservation and urban management; land, housing and property management; and climate change response, among others. Deputy Minister of Construction Phan Thi My Linh said Vietnam’s urban and rural areas have been given a facelift as a result of national industrialisation and modernisation.
Many new urban areas have been formed with improved infrastructure and diverse services, she added. However, the official admitted, there are still illegal construction activities that affect the images of modern roads and urban areas. Linh blamed the problem on the limited capacity of urban managers and suggested more attention be paid to human resources, along with completing institutions and policies, and mobilising different resources for the work.-VNA
