WEF’s Special Annual Meeting 2021 to be held in Singapore in May

Geneva (VNA) – The World Economic Forum (WEF) will convene itsSpecial Annual Meeting 2021 in Singapore from May 13-16.

The event will return to Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, forthe Annual Meeting 2022.

The Singapore meeting will be the first global leadershipevent to address worldwide recovery from the pandemic. This in-person eventwill bring together leaders to focus on shaping solutions to the world’s mostpressing challenges.


“A global leadership summit is of crucial importance toaddress how we can recover together,” said Klaus Schwab, WEF Founder andExecutive Chairman. “The Special Annual Meeting 2021 will be a place forleaders from business, government and civil society to meet in person for thefirst time since the start of the global pandemic. Public-private cooperationis needed more than ever to rebuild trust and address the fault lines thatemerged in 2020.”

The change in location reflects the Forum’s priority ofsafeguarding the health and safety of participants and the host community.After careful consideration, and in light of the current situation with regardsto COVID-19 cases, it was decided that Singapore is best placed to hold themeeting.

Ahead of the meeting, the Forum will host the Global Technology GovernanceSummit in Tokyo from April 6-7. This will feature global stakeholders fromgovernment, business, and civil society dedicated to ensuring the responsibledesign and deployment of emerging technologies through public-privatecollaboration./.
