Heavy rain and strong wind across the Mekong Delta province of An Giang on July 23 caused one dead, wrecked and blew away roofs of 1,192 houses, and inflicted serious damage on local assets and farming.

An Giang (VNA) – Heavy rain and strong wind acrossthe Mekong Delta province of An Giang on July 23 caused one dead, wrecked andblew away roofs of 1,192 houses, and inflicted serious damage on local assetsand farming.
According to a preliminary report from the office of themunicipal steering committee for response to climate change and search-rescuemission, affected localities include Tinh Bien, An Phu, Phu Tan, and Cho Moidistricts and Tan Chau town.
The victim was a resident of Tinh Bien district who wasstruck by lightning while herding ducks on the field.
After the disaster, local authorities visited affectedfamilies, helped them secure temporary shelters and gave them necessities andrice.
Commune-level police and military forces have been assistingresidents in moving assets and repairing their houses, while safeguarding localsecurity and order.-VNA
