Winners of APEC 2017 poster contest announced

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism named top 20 entries of a poster contest on the APEC Year 2017 at a ceremony held in Hanoi on November 3.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Ministry ofCulture, Sports and Tourism named top 20 entries of a poster contest on theAPEC Year 2017 at a ceremony held in Hanoi on November 3.

The first prize went to Do Trung Kien fromHanoi. Other awards presented at the event included two second, three third and14 consolation prizes.

On the occasion, the Grassroots CultureDepartment published DVDs and a collection of four posters serving publicpromotion on the APEC Vietnam Year 2017.

The competition ran from December 30, 2016to February 28, 2017, attracting 552 submissions nationwide.

Vietnam has been hosting a series of APECmeetings since the beginning of 2017. The APEC Economic Leaders’ Week 2017, themost important event of the APEC Year 2017, will take place in Da Nang fromNovember 6-11

Established in 1989, the Asia-PacificEconomic Cooperation (APEC) forum comprises 21 economies, including Australia,Brunei, Canada, Chile, China, Hong Kong (China), Indonesia, Japan, the Republicof Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, thePhilippines, Russia, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, the US, and Vietnam.

APEC represents about 39 percent of theworld’s population and contributes 57 percent to global GDP and 49 percent ofinternational trade.-VNA

🦂 Vietnam re-elected to 2005 UNESCO Convention’s Intergovernmental Committee

This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee. The outcome shows the trust and recognition that member states have given Vietnam for its efforts and achievements in carrying out and promoting the Convention, as well as for its active role, strong standing, and growing credibility at UNESCO.
