Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Football Federation held aceremony in Hanoi on March 4 to welcome the trophy of the prestigious 2023 FIFA Women's WorldCup.
The event marked a historic milestone when the Vietnamesewomen's football team have qualified for the World Cup finals for the first time.
The capital city is the fourth stop of the trophy on aglobal tour ahead of the highly anticipated competition set to takeplace this July.
The tour serves as a crucial prelude to the internationalsporting event, which will be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand. The tourbegan in Japan on February 25, going to the Republic of Korea and thePhilippines before Vietnam. It will leave for China on March 9-11.
In all, the trophy will travel to all 32 countries competingat the World Cup before touring the nine Women’s World Cup host cities in thefinal weeks before the start of the tournament on July 20.
Following the draw last October, Vietnam will be in Group E with defendingchampions USA, last time's runners-up the Netherlands and a playoff matchwinner.
They will play all three group matches in New Zealand./.
The FIFA Women’s World Cup Trophy is scheduled to make a stopover in Vietnam for the first time on March 4 and 5 as part of its tour around the globe ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023 in July.
The K.League 2 footbal tournament in the Republic of Korea (RoK) has freshly started with the participation of Vietnamese young players – Van Toan in the jersey of Seoul E-Land FC, and Vu Minh Hieu and Nguyen Canh Anh both in Cheonan City FC.
The Vietnamese women’s football team will play Nepal and Afghanistan in Group C of the Women’s Olympic Football Asian Qualifiers, according to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
The ambassador noted that among the 300,000 Vietnamese residing in the RoK, around 3,000 are living in Pyeongtaek and contributing actively to the local economy. Ho expressed his hope that the local authorities will continue support the overseas Vietnamese community in the city.

The Vietnamese team will gather on June 26 in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, where they will train until July 14 before departing for Indonesia for the ASEAN U23 Championship 2025, which runs from July 15 to 29. Vietnam will face Laos on July 19 and Cambodia on July 22 in the group stage.
