Work starts on Vietnamese-funded school in Laos

Work began on the construction of a high school, a gift from General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong, in Laos’ Bolykhamxay province on December 13.

Vientiane (VNA) – Work began on the construction of a high school, a giftfrom General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central CommitteeNguyen Phu Trong, in Laos’ Bolykhamxay province on December 13.

Built atcost of 30 billion VND (1.32 million USD), the Sithanaxay school project spans2,126 square metres. It consists of a fully-functioned four-storey building,which is designed to accommodate eight classrooms, two laboratories, and aconvention room.

The schoolwill be transferred to the Lao side in late August 2018, prior to the local2018 – 2019 new school year.

Speaking atthe ground-breaking ceremony, Nguyen Huy Tang, deputy head of the Party CentralCommittee’s Commission for External Relations, said the establishment reflectsVietnam - Laos traditional and comprehensive cooperation, as well as theirParty and Government leaders’ attention to human resources training in Laos.

He stressedit is a major project in celebration of the Vietnam – Laos and Laos – Vietnam solidarityand friendship year 2017, which marks 55 years of bilateral relations and 40years of the signing of the countries’ Treaty on Amity and Cooperation.

He asked theproject management board under the Office of the Party Central Committee andCompany of Economic Cooperation of Vietnam to coordinate to ensure the qualityand safety of the project.

Bolykhamxaydeputy governor Bounma Bouchaleuan noted that the school will help improve thelocal high-quality educational infrastructure to meet development demand.-VNA
