A contest of eloquence in Arabic and an exhibition on the Arabic culture were also organised.
Speaking at the event, ULISRector Dr. Do Tuan Minh said known as one of the six languages spoken in theUnited Nations, Arabic is the language of the Koran and the official languageof 25 countries and is spoken by more than 500 million people around the world.
The UNESCO’s designation ofDecember 18 as the World Arabic Language Day in 2012 is the recognition ofthe role of the Arabic language in the formation and development of humanculture, he said.
Accordingto the Rector, ULIS has taught the Arabic language since 1996 and celebrated the Day since2016. The ceremony and the contest provided lecturers, students and Vietnamese people with a chance to understand more about the Arabic culture in general as well as the country and culture of Saudi Arabia, the biggest economy in the Middle East.
In hisspeech, Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Vietnam Mohammed Ismaeil A. Dahlwy expressed his wish to enhance cooperation with Arabic language training establishments inVietnam, especially ULIS – the first educational establishment in Vietnam toteach Arabic.

A book on the 55th anniversary of the Vietnam-Egypt friendship in the Arabic language was launched at a ceremony held at the Embassy of Vietnam in Egypt on May 16.
The Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRSC) on April 28 received aid worth over 166,000 USD from Saudi Arabia’s King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (Ksrelief) in support of poor Vietnamese households.

For the first time, the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) has granted Vietnam hosting rights for the two championships, including the Asian women’s solo category, which debuts this year as an officially recognised event.
