Vietnamese pianist Cao Thanh Lan will perform in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi on March 26 and 28 at 8pm respectively.
At the concert, she will perform Debussy and Messiaen's classical preludes.
Bornin Hanoi in 1987 into a family of musicians, Lan is a versatile pianistwho encompasses a wide range of stylistic influences, with a repertoireranging from classical to contemporary music and interdisciplinaryworks.
She started learning to play the piano at the age of 12 atthe Hanoi National Conservatory of Music, before receiving a fullgovernment scholarship to study at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.There she earned both her Bachelor's degree and Master's degree withdistinction from the class of Boyan Vodenitcharov and Daniel Blumenthal.
Lanhas won prestigious prizes at several national and internationalcompetitions. They include the gold prize at the ASIA InternationalPiano Festival and Competition in the Republic of Korea in 2011, thesecond prize at the National Autumn Competition (Concours d'Automne) in2007, and the special prize at the Hanoi International Piano Competitionin 2010.
She has performed various countries including Germany, Switzerland and Belgium.
Hoping to start a new music scene in Vietnam, she has cooperated withthe Dom Dom Institute for experimental music and art to introducecontemporary music to young musicians in Vietnam.
