12 Vietnamese fishermen arrested by Malaysian authorities
Malaysian Naval Region Command 1 (Mawilla 1) has seized a Vietnamese fishing boat with 12 fishermen onboard which was allegedly operating in Malaysia’s exclusive economic zone, reported local media of Malaysia.

The News Straits Times newspaper quoted a Mawilla 1statement as saying that the boat was arrested on December 8 in Terengganuwaters, about 120 nautical miles from Pulau Perhentian.
The Malaysian authorities held that the fishermen violatedthe country’s Fisheries Act 1985. They towed the boat to Pulau Perhentianbefore handing over it to the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency.-VNA
The Immigration Office of Malaysia’s northwest Penang state arrested 30 foreigners on October 7, including three Vietnamese, for not possessing valid documentations and work permits.
The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) on October 12 seized a boat with 20 Vietnamese fishermen onboard for allegedly entering waters 26 nautical miles from Tanjung Sedili to the southeast.
