Hanoi (VNA) 🔯– The Law Committee of the 14th National Assembly convened its first plenary meeting on July 25.

The committee is led by Le Thi Nga, a member of the 14 th NA Standing Committee who was elected to the post during the NA’s sitting on July 22.
The committee has four Vice Chairs, three standing members and 31 other members as approved by the NA Standing Committee. Chairwoman Le Thi Nga told the committee that in the previous tenure, the NA Law Committee actively coordinated with relevant agencies in the drafting of the 2013 Constitution while leading the assessment and revision of many draft laws before they were submitted to the NA and the NA Standing Committee for approval. The committee also strengthened the monitoring of the operation of judicial agencies, contributing to the goal of building a clean, strong and democratic judicial system.
The chairwoman pointed to shortcomings in the committee’s monitoring work, particularly in detecting and dealing with some corruption cases. The quality of law assessment and revision still leaves much to be desired. Addressing the meeting, NA Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu urged the committee to continue reform its working style to better perform its functions and tasks, meeting the requirements of the NA and the public. The meeting’s aim was to familiarise members with the committee’s organisation, functions, tasks, power and key missions in the time ahead. -VNA
