Hanoi (VNA) – A 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck Gutad town on thePhilippines’ Luzon island on April 22 afternoon, with at least two peoplekilled due to house collapse.
The quake shook manybuildings in Manila capital city, making thousands of residents and officeworkers flee to safety.
Head of the PhilippineInstitute of Seismology and Volcanology Renato Solidum said that the quake,which was caused by movement of a local fault, was not strong enough to triggera tsunami or cause widespread damage.
However, someofficials reported damage to a church in northern Pampanga province and saidboulders rolled down a mountain, blocking a highway.
