Hanoi (VNA) – “A Year of Robotics 2024” Programmeand the Vietnam VEX Robotics National Championship 2024 were launched in Hanoion July 12, aiming to popularising robotics education among Vietnamesestudents, selecting talents for international competitions, and updatingrobotics knowledge for teachers nationwide.
Within the framework of the programme,the organising board, comprising the STEAM for Vietnam Foundation, the AmericanCentre and the Hanoi University of Science and Technology, said an intensivetraining programme will be held for teachers across the nation.
Other activities include the launch of an online library of teaching materials for teachers, and STEAMese Festival slated for August. Meanwhile, arobotics training course for high school students will be opened in autumn.
At the same time, the championship, a playground for all students who love robotics that will beorganised to the Robotics Education & Competition (REC) Foundation’sstandards, will receive registrations from July and officially open inSeptember. The competition is to select 40 teams for the world largestrobotics competition – the VEX Robotics World Championship 2024.

The organising board hopes to draw more than 300 teams of students from primaryand secondary schools, and 50 others from high schools. They will compete invarious contents of Teamwork Challenge, Driving Skills Challenge, and ProgrammingSkills Challenge.
The STEAM for Vietnam Foundation will build a library toprovide training documents from VEX Robotics and organise a series ofconferences to connect robotics experts and participating teams, helping theteams enhance their capacity. It will also give instructions to schools toorganise friendly competitions to REC Foundation’s standards.
Last year's edition of the programme providedfree robotics training to more than 2,000 students, 500 teachers from 150schools nationwide. Meanwhile, the VEX IQ Championship 2023 drew more than 150teams from 30 cities and provinces nationwide.
In May 2023, Vietnam sent 19 robotics teams to the VEXRobotics World Championship 2023 in Texas, the US, ranking fifth in the numberof teams, and bringing home five prizes./.
Choosing Vietnam as its first destination in Southeast Asia, the Global Robotics Services (GRS) is ambitious about developing the market, opening its factory here, and turning the country into a robotics hub of the world.
Vietnam is allowed to send 20 teams to the VEX Robotics World Championship 2023 (VEX Worlds), scheduled to be held in May this year in Dallas city in the US state of Texas, according to the Robotics Education and Competition Foundation which involves in the organisation of robotics competitions.
