Hanoi (VNA) – Pedestrian streets around Hoan Kiem lake at the heartof Hanoi will suspend activities during the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival fromJanuary 20 (or the 29th day of the last lunar month).
The space will reopen at 7pm on February 3, thePeople’s Committee of Hoan Kiem district announced on January 17.
Chairman of the committee Pham Tuan Long said that this moveaims to facilitate the traffic during the Tet – thelargest festival in year of Vietnamese people.
With its cultural, historical, landscape and architecturalvalues, the Hoan Kiem Lake area has long been a tourist attraction,especially during holidays.
A firework show is scheduled to be launched in this area onLunar New Year’s Eve./.
The pedestrian spaces in Hanoi’s Hoan Kiem district will be open from September 1 through September 4 to serve local residents and visitors during the National Day (September 2) holiday.
The Son Tay ancient fortress pedestrian zone in the suburbs of Hanoi attracted over 250,000 visitors after four months of pilot operation, according to the zone’s management board.
A night-time food and pedestrian zone was officially opened on Dao Ngoc - Ngu Xa, an islet on Truc Bach Lake in Hanoi’s Ba Dinh district on December 23 evening.
