- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on February 21 urged ministries, sectors, and localities to double efforts to fulfil the economic growth target of at least 8% this year, contributing to creating momentum and strength for the country to enter a new era – the era of the nation’s rise.

Addressing the Government’s meeting with localities regarding the implementation of the conclusions of the Party Central Committee, and the resolutions of the National Assembly and the Government on economic growth and acceleration of public investment disbursement, PM Chinh affirmed that this growth target had been set by the Party, agreed upon by the Government, supported by the National Assembly, welcomed by the people, and expected by the Fatherland. - The Vietnamese Government issued on February 21 a declaration establishing the baseline for measuring the breadth of Vietnam's territorial waters in the Gulf of Tonkin.

The declaration, announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, follows Resolution No. 68/NQ-UBTVQH15 dated February 14, 2025 of the National Assembly Standing Committee. Read full story

- Switzerland has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Vietnam’s ambition of becoming a high-income nation by 2045 and achieving its sustainable development goals.

Heinrich Schellenberg, head of the Asia-Pacific Division at the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, made the statement during co-chairing the director general-level political consultation between the foreign ministries of Vietnam and Switzerland on February 20 with Bui Ha Nam, Director-General of the Europe Department at Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. - New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon's official visit to Vietnam and participation in the ASEAN Future Forum from February 25-28 will mark a significant milestone which is expected to pave the way for the two countries to elevate their ties, said Vietnamese Ambassador to New Zealand Nguyen Van Trung.

- The Vietnam Global Innovation Connect Singapore 2025 kicked off in Singapore on February 20, bringing together some 100 Vietnamese experts and entrepreneurs from around the world to advance the nation’s technology development.

The three-day forum, jointly held by the Association of Vietnamese Scientists and Experts (AVSE Global) and the Vietnam Community Liaison Committee in Singapore (VNAS), centres on the theme “Connect – Converge – Create: Empowering the Future with Technology”. - The People’s Committee of the central province of Quang Nam and the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) on February 21 launched a 2025-2029 project to preserve and restore Towers E and F at the UNESCO-recognised My Son world heritage site in Duy Phu commune, Duy Xuyen district.

The Towers E and F complex comprises 11 structures, with the E group consisting of eight towers (E1–E8) and the F group including three towers (F1, F2, F3). Experts from Vietnam and India have identified these monuments as requiring urgent restoration. Read full story./.
