- Party General Secretary To Lam has urged the Party Central Committee’s Organisation Commission to bolster its advisory role in political system restructuring as preparations for the 14th National Party Congress in 2026 intensify.

Chairing a working session with the commission in Hanoi on May 27, Lam outlined an agenda to modernise the Party’s governance, combat corruption, and streamline administrative operations. Read full story

- Vietnam always values and wishes to enhance cooperation with Hungary, its top-priority partner and first comprehensive partner in the Central and Eastern Europe, State President Luong Cuong affirmed while holding talks with Hungarian President Sulyok Tamás in Hanoi on May 28.

Welcoming the Hungarian President’s official visit, Cuong stressed that this trip, taking place on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations (1950–2025), is a significant event that contributes to creating a breakthrough in deepening and enhancing the effectiveness of the Vietnam–Hungary Comprehensive Partnership. - Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited and delivered a policy speech at the National University of Malaysia (UKM) on May 28, part of his official visit to Malaysia and attendance at the 46th ASEAN Summit and related summits there.

Established in 1970, the UKM is a leading academic institution in Malaysia and Asia, ranking 138th in the world and 28th in Asia. Currently, it has nearly 3,000 international students among a total number of over 25,000. Read full story

- State President Luong Cuong and his spouse hosted a formal state banquet in Hanoi on May 28 in honour of Hungarian President Sulyok Tamas and his spouse, who are on an official visit to Vietnam.

In his address, President Cuong reflected on the profound historical ties that bind Vietnam and Hungary. Seventy-five years ago, Hungary stood among the first ten countries to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam, he said. "During our most challenging times, Hungary was a great source of encouragement, reinforcing confidence in the inevitable victory of our just struggle". Read full story

- All six members of the Vietnamese team competing at the 2025 Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO) brought home medals, securing the country a fifth-place finish overall, the Ministry of Education and Training announced on May 27.

- Ambassador Mai Phan Dung has expressed appreciation for the ongoing legal support provided by the Advisory Centre on World Trade Organisation (WTO) Law (ACWL), saying that it has been critical in helping Vietnam navigate the complexities of global trade landscape since joining the WTO in 2007.

During a seminar with the ACWL in Geneva on May 27, Dung, who is head of Vietnam’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, the WTO, and other international organisations in Geneva, outlined Vietnam’s socio-economic progress, acknowledging both the strides made and the challenges faced as a WTO member. - More than 17.1 million citizens had given feedback on proposed amendments to the 2013 Constitution through the VNeID application as of 8:00 pm on May 26, according to Deputy Minister of Justice Dang Hoang Oanh.

Under the current timeline, ministries, agencies, and localities must submit their consolidated reports on public consultation results to the Ministry of Justice by May 30. As of May 26, however, the Ministry of Justice is the only agency that has completed its report on the draft resolution to amend and supplement several articles of the Constitution. Read full story

- The Ministry of Construction (MoC) held a working session with the US conglomerate - 3M Group on May 28 to discuss development directions for the North–South High-Speed Railway Project and sustainable traffic safety solutions in Vietnam.

According to Le Trung Thanh, Director of the Department of Science Technology, Environment, and Construction Materials, this is an unprecedented project and the first of its kind in Vietnam. Given its significant scale and investment, the project requires complex technical and technological standards.
